Erecting and Dismantling Falsework
C A S E S T U D Y Erecting and Dismantling Falsework A retained Occupational Hygienist carried out noise monitoring for a major construction project and identified a particular noise problem caused by the practice of erecting and dismantling falsework for ceiling slab casting. Falsework consisted of props (to support the weight above) and ledger frames (used to keep props vertical and prevent movement under load). Prop length was adjusted by a screw tightening collar and ledger frames fixed to props with wing nuts. Noise on site was primarily caused by the practice of tightening prop and ledger frame fixings by hitting them with a hammer.
