Overview Scottish Power sought to replace the current two-coat alkyd system with a material that met the following criteria: • Single coat application • Applicable over new or rusty galvanised steel • Minimal surface preparation • Surface and moisture tolerant • Easy to apply by brush • 10 years maintenance free guarantee Challenge The project would be completed in open air and potentially in very poor weather conditions. Grit blasting was not permissible. Solution Wire brushing was selected as the surface preparation method to be utilised. This was followed by one coat of wet & rust tolerant Epo-chemTM RL 500PF.
