© 2019 Kadant Solutions Division Challenge At a Southeastern U.S. linerboard mill, PressTekTM doctor blades had been used on the baby dryer. The position had a DST holder and ran at 2,500 fpm. The PressTek doctor blade only lasted two weeks and did not clean the dryer can well. Also, the PressTek doctor blade had shown some sparking in this position. Solution DriTek Bronze B doctor blade (bottom coated) was installed and lasted longer than the PressTek doctor blade and cleaned the surface extremely well. Results Not only does DriTek Bronze B doctor blade effectively clean dryer cans, but there is no concern about sparking with this blade material.
