Washington Group Northern (WGN) was contracted to construct two new electrical substations for Suncor Energy, to supply power to their Firebag in-site (SAGD) oil sands project. In order to fast track the project, WGN made the decision to re-design the foundations in both substations to utilize large diameter helical piles.
