Corridor X/I-22 | Volkert Location: Birmingham, AL Client: Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) selected Volkert to design the development of the Future I-22, known as “Corridor X. ” The Birmingham-area segments of Future I-22 will bring the interstate corridor between Memphis and Birmingham closer to fruition. Once Corridor X is tied into I-65, the roadway will be known as Interstate 22 and facilitate freeway passage from Atlanta to Oklahoma City. Together, the Corridor X projects represent one the largest roadway construction projects undertaken by ALDOT.
