CarbonWrap ® HELPING TO KEEP THE WATER FLOWING Problem One of the 48-inch diameter force mains of the City of El Paso was leaking at several locations. Due to the importance of continuity in providing water to customers, the city could not afford to remove the pipe from service. Wrapping the pipe externally with DowAksa CarbonWrap ® to stop the leak was the method of choice for the city to mitigate the problem. Solution The 48-inch diameter line was excavated to allow wrapping with DowAksa CarbonWrap ® . The pipe was then cleaned and primed in preparation for wrapping with carbon. The pipe was wrapped with two layers of DowAksa CarbonWrap ® over its full circumference to completely encapsulate the pipe and eliminate any leak.
