Its location and size make it extremely important for the transhipment port of Hamburg. HOCHTIEF Solutions’ experts renewed berths 3 and 4 by building a 670-meter-long quay wall for large container ships. Ground conditions shaped by the Ice Age—gravel and extremely hard layers of mica clay and marl—posed a real construction challenge. But, with our special concept and construction know-how, we created a stable foundation here for the Hamburg Port Authority and the terminal operator.
