Case Study
Accelerating Climate Change Modeling
The Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Climate Change (CMCC), a non-profit research center in Italy, focuses on modeling climate systems and their socio-economic impacts. To meet growing computational demands, CMCC tested its NEMO ocean modeling workloads using Intel® Xeon® Max 9480 processors with high-bandwidth memory, achieving up to 3.47x performance over its previous Zeus cluster. Based on these results, CMCC is deploying a new supercomputing cluster, Cassandra, to enhance its research capabilities. Intel’s advanced technologies are helping CMCC manage complex climate simulations and large data volumes more efficiently.
