Voice Payments: An Introduction and Overview
This Nacha Payments Innovation Alliance paper introduces voice payments, enabled by AI, natural language processing, and smart speakers. Adoption has accelerated with the rise of digital assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant, and the pandemic boosted demand for contactless transactions. By 2022, 31% of U.S. adults were expected to use voice payments, up from 8% in 2017. Globally, usage is projected to grow from 2.5 billion to 8 billion users by 2023.
