There is a perfect storm building within the FQHC community this year. For starters, the US healthcare system is facing one of the most challenging workforce environments in history. Constantly working on the front line of a multi-year global pandemic while also being the backstop for endless government mandates has driven thousands of healthcare professionals to leave the profession, resulting in massive workforce shortages. This not only jeopardizes a federally qualified health center’s (FQHC’s) ability to provide access to care their community members need, but also makes it more difficult for FQHCs to meet the stringent and increasingly complex reporting requirements for funding.
