THE STATE OF CONSUMER SPENDING: Inflation’s Impact on the Workforce
First Insight’s June 2022 report reveals that inflation is affecting remote/hybrid workers more severely than in-office employees. Remote/hybrid workers feel less job security, are more sensitive to grocery prices, and are cutting back more across nearly all categories—including dining, entertainment, apparel, and travel. While 77% of remote/hybrid workers feel less confident spending, only 75% of in-office workers report the same. Remote/hybrid workers are also reducing purchases of name-brand groceries and entertainment more aggressively. Both groups prioritize groceries, but in-office workers are more focused on gas and healthcare.
