State of AI in Manufacturing: 2024-2025 Results
Rootstock’s 2024–25 survey shows AI is mainstream in manufacturing: 90% say it’s important, 77% have implemented it, and 82% plan budget increases. Firms prefer copilots (53%) over autonomous agents (22%). Top uses today: production (31%) and inventory (28); key new drivers: supply chain (49%) and big data/analytics (43%). Automation is most used (57%), while GenAI jumped from 35% to 50%. Reported benefits center on efficiency (49%) and productivity (40), with desired gains in production planning and quality control (both 28%). ERP data is critical, yet 54% doubt current ERP readiness. Biggest hurdles: skills (45%) and integration (44%); response: training/upskilling (60%) and easier-to-use tech (41%).
