While both agree on board oversight of succession plans, perceptions diverge around CEO involvement in key steps like interviewing candidates (72% of CEOs vs. 18% of secretaries) and selecting search firms (62% vs. 10%). The findings suggest boards and management should align expectations to ensure smoother leadership transitions—especially in the event of unplanned departures where clarity and speed are critical.
