2025 State of Machine Identity Security Report
The 2025 State of Machine Identity Security Report reveals that machine identities now vastly outnumber human ones, making them prime targets for attackers. 50% of organizations suffered breaches tied to compromised machine identities, with API keys and SSL/TLS certificates most at risk. 72% faced certificate outages, often disrupting operations, while AI adoption further amplifies risks. Although 92% have programs in place, 42% lack cohesive strategies, and 34% still rely on manual processes. With shorter certificate lifespans and looming quantum threats, automation, visibility, and crypto agility are critical to strengthen machine identity security.
