According to First Insight and the Wharton School’s October 2021 infographic, 98% of retail executives were experiencing supply chain issues, and all expected continued disruption into 2022 and beyond, especially during the holiday season. Most executives anticipated taking a margin hit, with 68% expecting under 10% loss. To manage costs, 59% raised product or shipping prices, while others relied on predictive analytics, 3D design, and digital product testing. Key mitigation strategies included vendor diversification, assortment streamlining, and substitution of unavailable products. Additionally, 65% of executives adjusted pricing in response to inflation.
