Ping Identity’s infographic reveals that healthcare has been the most targeted industry by cybercriminals for over five years, with large breaches increasing by 256%. Unauthorized access accounts for nearly half of all attacks, while ransomware and phishing also dominate. About 90% of major 2022 breaches involved third-party vendors, and 39% were caused by internal actors. A quarter of organizations hit by ransomware in 2023 reported fatalities, and 74% said breaches impacted patient care.
