The WatchGuard Threat Lab’s Q4 2023 Internet Security Report highlights key malware trends, showing 108 new threats per 100k devices, with each Firebox blocking an average of 2,416 malware hits. Zero-day malware made up 60% of all malware, though endpoint ransomware attacks dropped 19.7%. Notable threats include PDF.Spam.Heur.1, which links to credential-stealing sites, JS.Agent.USF and Trojan.GenericKD, which deliver DarkGate, and Trojan.Zmutzy.1305 (Remcos), a remote access trojan. IntelligentAV detections rose 196%, with advanced evasive malware detections increasing 36%, underlining the evolving threat landscape.
