Phishing remains a top entry point for data breaches, with attacks often launched using basic tools like phishing pages, email lists, and compromised servers. Some hackers even offer Phishing-as-a-Service, doubling profitability over unmanaged methods. Attacks peak between 9am–12pm, and 68% of breached accounts had no prior compromise, showing the persistent danger. The best defense is widespread deployment of web application firewalls (WAFs) to detect and block injection techniques. Increasing server security and treating WAFs as essential as network firewalls could significantly disrupt phishing operations.
