By late fall, federal employees working remotely topped 70 percent in many agencies and as high as 90 percent in others, according to testimony to Congress in November. Yet remote work brings with it new perils, especially in the area of cybersecurity. Federal technology leaders are concerned about the growing potential for cyber compromise at a time when workers are logging in via their personal devices, from their home networks. Government already was experiencing a rise in cybercrime, even before the pandemic sent everyone home from the office.
