Historically, business phone systems called for hardware at a desktop level (phones, answering machines) and for phone servers (PABX, then IPBX). With the development of the Cloud, tele-com services rapidly began offering cloud-based servers (known as Centrex) before migrating handsets to cloud type technology. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) appeared, closely fol-lowed by WebRTC technology, which allowed VoIP to take place over any web browser. In fact, throughout these developments, telecom has only just caught up with other business tools. Today, with smartphones, laptop computers and tablets, who wants to struggle with an immovable box plugged in at their desk to send or read emails?
