The December 2022 Aite-Novarica Group report on commercial payment trends shows that while modern channels like real-time payments, digital wallets, and cryptocurrencies are growing among existing users, legacy methods such as checks and batch payments remain widely used, especially in North America where 76% of businesses still issue checks. ACH, EFT, SEPA Credit Transfers, and Bacs account for about 30% of volume. In Europe and the U.K., 67% of firms used immediate payments in the past year, compared to 46% in the U.S. Cryptocurrency adoption remains limited, with low intent among non-users.
