Prior to HotDocs, the policy issuing process was very much a manual process with extensive typing and substantial repetition of key items, such as client names and policy numbers. This was time consuming and also meant a lack of consistency and high error rate. Via the implementation of HotDocs, policy libraries were established with templates for base policies and their associated endorsements. This was also a benefit for non-policy issuance staff as they could access these documents as a reference without having the ability to amend them, thus the integrity of the documents was protected.
