Peter Brett (PBA) | Webb’s Hole Pumping Station The £1m Webb’s Hole Pumping Station is located on the Swavesey Drain in a system that becomes locked by a sluice door at times of high flood levels at the confluence with the River Great Ouse downstream. Providing 1 cumec of "fish-friendly" flow to compensate for planned increases in treated effluent at the Utton's Drove treatment works, the commissioning discharges a key trigger in the planning conditions for the new town of Northstowe. Calling upon over 25 years of pumping station experience within the Fens, the PBA design and project management team appointed to deliver the project did so on time and below budget; facilitating £3m of savings against the stakeholders initial estimates for the project.
