A CASE STUDY FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT: HIRWAUN LOCATION: WATER TREATMENT WORKS, WALES SUMMARY A collaborative trial, with five water utilities, was created to validate of effectiveness of Hydro's electro-chemical (EC) system for solids-metal separation within the utility sector. Hydro was able to demonstrate the capabilities of the system with trial results confirming the ability to treat the backwash water to the standard required. This is the standard for the new discharge consent limits for disposal at the Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW). This water can also be returned to the head of the works to be reused, resulting in improved process and cost efficiency.
