Virginia Mainline Weigh Stations with Pre-Pass Integration Project Description:In 1991, IRD was contracted to design and install ramp sorting systems at Troutville and Stephens City to pre-sort commercial vehicle tra c prior to the weigh station facility. Troutville has a unique double threshold bending plate system using two bending plate weigh-in- motion scales, instead of one WIM, to pre-sort commercial vehicles. Stephens City has a more advanced system using IRD Single Load Cell WIM technology combined with AVI to obtain and relay information to the commercial vehicle. Stephens City has recently been upgraded to be incorporated into the CVISN program.
