Using Intel® FPGAs for Real-Time Image Processing in High- Performance Industrial Cameras
Hamamatsu Photonics, a leader in light-based technologies, used Intel® FPGAs to meet the high-performance, low-cost demands of its ORCA-Quest scientific and X-ray food inspection cameras. These applications required real-time digital signal processing and extremely high bandwidth to handle large sensor data volumes. Intel® FPGAs provided rich DSP resources and multi-gigabit transceiver I/O, delivering performance far beyond software-based processors. Their flexible logic fabric allowed integration of multiple system functions into a single device, reducing cost, PCB space, and power consumption while enhancing overall system efficiency.
