University of Alaska-Fairbanks The University of Alaska-Fairbanks swim team was discontinued in 1987 and reinstated in the fall of 2005. For their first season back, the Nanooks were unable to host meets at their on-campus pool located at the Patty Center due to the fact that the pool did not meet NCAA requirements.
