Case Study
Union Square
A 10mm thick folded aluminium freestanding sign? The incumbent sign company said it was impossible. So after our combined success with design company Momentum at the Brunswick in London, it was only natural for them to call us in to do the apparently impossible. The problem with 10mm thick aluminium is that it can buckle and crack when it’s folded. We managed to solve the problem in just two weeks by using a softer grade and by protecting the sheet inside the brake press using our metal-working know-how. As a result, we were awarded the contract for all the high level external directional signage at the prestigious Union Square project in Aberdeen – a Hammerson development. Although we were brought in late and worked to an extremely tight programme, all the signage was of course completed
