UC Berkeley Li Ka Shing Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences Overview University of California, Berkeley, serves as one of the leading research universities in the nation. Upon receiving a generous $40 million donation from the Li Ka Shing Foundation, the university set out to design a highly advanced and modular research facility to provide significant advancements in the areas ofinfectious disease, neurodegenerative disease, cancer biology, stem cell biology, and brain imaging. This new 200,000 sf research facility includes over 30 research and teaching laboratories as well as auditoriums, lecture halls, conference rooms, and office spaces. This facility ensures that UC Berkeley maintains its leading position, while providing the community with the latest medical discoveries. (Image
