It is a widely held belief that a co-ordinated approach in local authorities is the only way to produce results for the benefit of the region, its residents and the local authorities themselves. Twente Region, Netherlands, is a joint venture between 14 local authorities in the Dutch Twente region and in May 2005 Twente Region initiated a large-scale ICT project with the prime objective to make ICT available centrally to all the local authorities in the region.
