Greyhound Racing SA wished to upgrade the track lighting at Angle Park for two main reasons: Firstly, in response to the rising cost of maintaining their aging 3 phase 1500w floods, where replace- ment control gear was becoming increasingly rare. Secondly, to improve the light levels for television coverage of the race meetings. In the process they also reduced the operating costs of the track lighting by 63%. It was essential to utilise the existing 8m poles in the existing locations, together with the existing 3 phase circuitry. Light quality and uniformity was vital.
