Overview The National Government Employee Pensions Board (SPV) was established in 1963 and is one of Sweden’s largest providers of pension ser- vices. It is responsible for administering the pen- sions of over 800,000 public service employees and pensioners, and employs 400 people. Challenge SPV operates in a highly regulated and spe- cialized environment. During the late 1980s a mainframe environment was introduced which now hosts 25 different COBOL -developed sys- tems containing more than 5,500 programs.
