Overview The National Government Employee Pensions Board (SPV) was established in 1963 and is one of Sweden’s largest providers of pension services. It is responsible for administering the pensions of over 800,000 public service employ­ ees and pensioners, and employs 400 people. Challenge SPV operates in a highly regulated and spe­ cialized environment. During the late 1980s a mainframe environment was introduced which now hosts 25 different COBOL-developed sys ­ tems containing more than 5,500 programs.
