CLIENT CHALLENGE Summit Retail Solutions works with major retailers across the United States to perform “road shows,” or product demonstrations, in multiple retail locations. The inventory of products is delivered to the retailer ahead of the scheduled demonstrations. With over 150 on-site sales representatives, communicating inventory needs and updates was performed manually. This process entailed reps providing information via Excel to an inventory management team at Summit’s headquarters. This information was analyzed, reviewed, and aggregated for high-level inventory analysis and order forecasting. When products were received remotely, reps sent e-mails and phone-in updates to report the received quantity, and manual calculations had to be performed to check for discrepancies.
