STAFELTER TUNNEL Stafelter tunnel is the last in series of tunnels being built alongside the section of A7 highway connecting Lorentzweiler a Waldhaff. As soon as it is finished, the A7 highway will connect the capital city of Luxembourg with the north of the country and Belgium. The building of the tunnel started back in 2008, the construction works are due for completion in 2012. The completed highway section "Route du Nord" is scheduled to be put into operation in mid 2014. The Stafelter highway tunnel is 1850 m long (1650 m being the drilled/bored part and 200 m the excavated part), it was designed as two parallel separate tubes and its path is relatively straightfoward.
