Case Study: Son House Apartments2 Son House Apartments – Providence Housing Inspiration + Purpose = Impact Inspiration What inspired the central design theme for the project were the music, creativity and tenacity of the visionary blues legend Son House. Son House spent part of his legendary career in this local Rochester community and during that time fell upon hard times and depended on others for support. The inspiration for this project drew on the very basic supportive needs that Son House experienced in his own life. The site for the project was vacant land that abutted to the existing Francis Center, a temporary, supportive shelter for men run by the Catholic Family Center.
