Smart airport thinking creates capacity advantage

Milan Bergamo Airport, operated by SACBO, is developing a digital twin through the AVIO project to enhance operational efficiency and staff training. This initiative creates an advanced simulated reality that integrates real-time data from multiple sources, including AI-driven video analysis, to improve situational awareness and decision-making for ground operations. The digital twin also supports immersive Virtual Reality training for airport personnel, increasing operational expertise. Powered by an HPE High Performance Computing supercomputer with NVIDIA GPUs, the project is co-funded by Italy’s Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy and involves partners like TXT e-tech, Sorint.TEK, and the University of Pavia.
