Peter Brett (PBA) | Shaldon flood alleviation scheme PBA was appointed to assist in the design and construction of a flood defence scheme to protect approximately 418 homes and businesses. Working closely with Atkins, PBA were involved in early scheme viability appraisal, scheme concepts, a Project Appraisal Report (PAR) including benefit cost analysis to manage flood risk over time, detailed scheme design and on site liaison with residents. The scheme required a solution that maintained the ecological condition of the estuary and ensured people could continue to enjoy the foreshore and surrounding area. The resulting construction involved raised flood walls, flood gates, flood proofing of individual properties and the use of glass panels to maintain sea views. The footprint of the scheme
