Schillinger Rd and Airport Blvd Signal Synchronization | Volkert Location: Mobile, AL Client: Mobile County Commission Mobile County Commission contracted Volkert to provide a system analysis for the existing signals and develop recommendations for system improvements on one of Mobile’s busiest thoroughfares. This street traverses densely developed commercial and residential areas and operates at capacity during and near peak times. The multilane corridor has 17 intersections within the City of Mobile and has often been plagued by congestion and delay. Based upon aerial photographs supplied by the county, Volkert developed signal plans for the project limits for both peak and off-peak times. Initial signal timing calculations were conducted using traffic count information from the County.
