Jeremiah Denton Airport | Volkert Location: Dauphin Island, AL Client: Mobile County Commission The Mobile County Commission selected Volkert to design and manage the rehabilitation of its Dauphin Island airfield. The project consisted of the rehabilitation of runway 12/30 , two taxiways and the apron. The project required the closure of the runway during construction work hours for seven days. A portion of the apron was open to helicopter traffic throughout the project. This required extensive coordination efforts between Volkert, the Jeremiah Denton Airport, the facility’s general aviation stakeholders, and the contractors.
