CHALLENGE Pressure Safety Valves are a critical part of oil and gas operations. Providing a last line of defence for pressurised systems, they can prevent catastrophic effects should the system over-pressurise. If a PSV was to fail the possible devastating effects of over-pressurisation can be costly in terms of any downtime while the damage is repaired, the release of toxic gases and oil spills can cause severe damage to the environment, and to the site or platform.
