BACKGROUND Providence Medford Medical Center provides high-quality medical imaging services in Southwest Oregon. As the center’s clinical imaging lead, Ken White manages the schedules of seven departments. This includes creating and updating schedules, rotations through multiple departments, handling time off requests, training or education days and medical leave. CHALLENGE As the department grew, scheduling became much more complicated. Ken pushed the limits of Excel as a scheduling tool, to the point that no one but Ken could understand the schedule. Creating a new schedule each month became a daunting and time-consuming task. The process had a high potential for errors.
