Paper Machine Conversion Newberg, Oregon Harris Group served as engineer-of-record for upgrades to an existing newsprint mill to allow production of packaging grades. Conversion to packaging grades was critical for the nancial performance for the mill by transitioning from a declining newsprint market to a more robust packaging grade market. The Challenge: The project goal was to convert one of the existing newsprint paper machines to allow production of packaging grades. Upgrades were required for the stock preparation, machine forming section, and drying capacity improvements and steam system modications.
