© 2017 Kadant Inc. 03/2017 Challenge On the TAD chrome rolls of a 6,000 fpm tissue machine in the U.S., fiberglass blades were used but only lasted three weeks and did not keep the rolls clean. Since the roll is very smooth, a lot of stickies adhere to the roll surface. Additionally, the environment is very hot, which limits the available blade materials. Solution The nPak C doctor blade was successful in improving both blade life and cleaning efficiency. It is now used in eight positions across two machines.
