Case Study: Musée du Quai Branly, Paris, France The Project The Musée du Quai Branly, named after its location on the banks of the Seine, has been conceived, designed and built specifi cally to house four permanent exhibition spaces dedicated to a magnifi cent collection of art and artefacts from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. In the shadow of the Eiffel tower, this new museum has been designed by the golden boy of French architecture, Jean Nouvel. The Vision As is often typical of Nouvel’s designs, the museum makes ample use of glass with a curving, futuristic edifi ce. A spectacular public garden, complete with an open- air amphitheatre has been added to the site. This has been planted with 180 trees growing over 15 meters tall in order to conceal the building.
