© 2019 Kadant Solutions Division Challenge A U.S. paper mill was using a SyntekTM C doctor blade on the last top dryer sheet shedding position of a lightweight coated paper machine. The Syntek C doctor blade had a three-week blade life. The tip was relatively weak for the application which caused the sheet to plug the doctor. Solution The Multitek doctor blade was installed due to its superior blade tip strength and improved blade life. Results Not only was sheet shedding improved with the Multitek doctor blade, but the blade life more than doubled from three to eight weeks.
