EDF Corse, responsible for most of Corsica’s electricity, faced challenges monitoring isolated, hard-to-reach substations critical to the island’s power grid. To improve supervision of switching, protection, and control equipment, as well as environmental conditions like temperature and humidity, they adopted Black Box’s AlertWerks wired monitoring system. After a successful test phase, EDF equipped 24 substations with hubs and intelligent sensors connected via IP. The solution enables remote monitoring from the main office, sending real-time alerts by email or SMS, reducing the need for on-site visits, and ensuring fast response to critical issues.
