SELECTION CRITERIA: New technology had to perform in cold, wet environment. ID TECHNOLOGY PROPOSAL OR SOLUTION: A K1010 laser coder was selected and installed. Salami is inserted into chubs which are sealed and then tagged. As the chubs travel down the line, the laser is triggered and a date code is printed on the tag. COST SAVINGS/PRODUCTIVITY GAINS: Customer was able to create a more permanent, reliable mark on their product as well as Meat Packer Uses Laser for Clear Date Codes reposition personnel in the plant.
