A leading U.S. healthcare system upgraded 63 data center cooling units with Vertiv to cut energy use and support its carbon neutrality goals. The retrofit added EC fans, Vertiv iCOM controls, advanced sensors, and chilled water actuators, enabling teamwork between units and adaptive autotuning for efficiency. Results included savings of over 3M kWh and $360K annually, a 72% carbon footprint reduction, and $690K in rebates from Pepco and the Maryland Energy Administration. The project pays back in under three years, improves reliability, eliminates cooling “fighting,” and boosts staff productivity with centralized visibility and automated controls.
