PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The original project, pictured left, proved to be more of a problem than a long term solution for the LA-DOTD. Discharge water from the metal pipe quickly washed away the Rip Rap rocks and the supporting soil base that are shown. The LA-DOTD chose to remove the rip rap and specify SlingBag® Revetment 60 lb burlap bags, A QUIKRETE® Company. Subcontractors W.E McDonald and QCS Contractors placed Geotextile Fabric and used 385 SlingBags® pallets containing 21,560 - 60 lb burlap bags of Revetment (sand/ cement), along the culverts to help build a solid base and prevent future washouts.
